We Aim to provide “TOP QUALITY SWIMMING FOR OUR COMMUNITY”

Our Vision is: -

1. To be the best swimming club in Nottinghamshire

2. To provide the best possible teaching and coaching for all our swimmers in order that they can fulfil their potential

3. To enable teachers and coaches to develop to their full potential so as to be able to meet the needs of each swimmer

4. To compete effectively as a team in League galas and open meets

5. To provide high quality facilities and resources for the Club.

We have a purpose and policy to practice exclusivity. We will treat all individuals fairly and impartially, without prejudice. We will not tolerate any type of harassment or bullying, including offensive remarks. We will foster a culture that values and responds to the rich diversity of the community of the area. We aim to ensure that our services meet the varied individual needs and expectations of swimmers in our area and that everyone has equal access to services, regardless of their race, heritage, gender, religious or non‑religious belief, nationality, family background, age, disability or sexuality.

Retford Swimming Club is a local club that has been in existence for over 100 years providing facilities for the people of Retford and the surrounding, mainly rural area. The club is committed to teaching, coaching, promoting and encouraging competitive swimming. Current membership exceeds 250 people of all ages.

The Management Committee comprising a group of dedicated people who are primarily parents and who bring a healthy mix of business professionalism and teaching and coaching skills ensure the affairs of the club are well run. Trained Amateur Swimming Association teachers and coaches take all the swimming sessions. The work of the Club has been acknowledged at national level in that the Club has recently achieved the government sponsored Sport England Clubmark accreditation which signifies the Club's commitment to being a safe, effective and child‑friendly sports club. The Club has also achieved accreditation as a Swim21 Teaching Club (Swim 21 is the ASA charter mark of quality) The Club meets 4 times per week at Retford Leisure Centre. In addition to providing facilities for leisure swimming the Club provides a high level of teaching and coaching for swimmers of all ages and abilities. The club also supports persons wishing to become swimming coaches or teachers and those wishing to qualify as ASA registered officials. Parental involvement in all aspects of the dub is high and plays an important part in the club structure.

The club competes with some success in various county leagues Many of our swimmers progress to the Bassetlaw section of Nottinghamshire's Nova Centurion Swim Squad and go on to swim at County and District levels and higher. Individual members compete frequently in galas held throughout the Region. Club members have swum in the National squad. The club holds its own annual championships for swimmers of all ages (followed by a Presentation Evening and Disco.) Home galas are held regularly at Retford Leisure Centre for all club members to ensure that anyone who wants to compete gets a chance; local clubs attend to heighten the element of competition. Club successes are well reported in the local press.
