Name: Matt Poskitt Hi Everyone, My name is Matt Poskitt, I'm 18 years old. Recently I was voted the
New Boys Club Captain for 2012/2013, it's the second year running for which I would like to thank everyone of you
who voted. Most of you will have seen me around the pool at some point over the past few years at training & galas but not many of you really know me, so I would just like to tell you all a bit about myself now. I started swimming when I was 5 years old with lessons at Bircotes Leisure Centre before joining Bircotes Penguins Swimming Club in 2004; I then started to swim with the Link Squad. Then late in 2006 I joined Retford Swimming Club & also moved up to Development with Nova Centurion, & then in 2007 I moved up into the B Squad. In the pool my favourite stroke is Backstroke & has been since I started at Bircotes Penguins in 2004, I've always enjoyed Backstroke the most, although my opinion of Frontcrawl, Breastroke & Butterfly always keeps changing, also I prefer to swim the shorter distance events the 50m's, 100m's & the occasional 200m rather than the distance events. Over the last year or two I have completed my Lifeguard Qualification then my Level 1 Teaching Qualification & recently I have been helping out at Club Sessions & I’m starting to become more involved with the Teaching / Coaching side of things, also I represent Retford Swimming Club by volunteering for S.A.N.D's most Thursday evenings teaching disabled swimmers. I now train twice a week on Wednesday & Sunday nights & help out on poolside on Wednesday & Friday nights, I attend as many galas I can to Swim & help out on poolside. Outside of Swimming I enjoy watching & occasionally playing football with my friends & I enjoy watching F1 as well, plus I work as a Lifeguard at Retford Leisure Centre & plan to do my Level 2 Teaching Qualification later this year. That’s about it really, but if you see me around either at galas or training sessions please say hello & if you have any questions that I might be able to answer you are more than welcome to ask as I'm here to help.
