Welcome to Retford Swimming Club

Our swimmers opened the new season in style at the 37th Robin Hood Open Meet. A squad of 18 competed in the 50m pool at Ponds Forge, Sheffield on 16th and 17th September and won a total of 40 medals (16 Gold, 9 Silver, 15 Bronze). Emily Mitchell won 2nd place in the Top Girl’s Award and George Owen won 5th in the Top Boy’s Award. Overall, Retford finished an impressive 6th out of 20 participating clubs. Read more . . .

Congratulations to Tom Deeley, Jess Gillatt, Tom Johnstone and Tash Utley who have competed at the National Championships this summer. Tom Deeley competed in 2 events at the British Summer Championships (25-30 July at Ponds Forge) and one at the National Summer Meet (2-6 August at Ponds Forge). Tash contested 2 events at the National Summer Meet and Jess and Tom Johnstone each competed in one event. Each of our swimmers qualified for the finals in their events at the National Summer Meet and PB's were achieved. Read more . . .

Congratulations to Retford member and Nova Centurion swimmer Cole Hewitt (grandson of our coach John) who won Silver for his 200m Butterfly at the National Summer Meet on Saturday (5 August). Cole, who was second fastest qualifier for the final with a PB of 02:15.60, succeeded in achieving a further PB of 02:15.30 in the final to claim the Silver medal. The week before at the British Summer Championships he finished 4th in the 100m Butterfly with a PB of 58.75 and established a new Nottinghamshire County Junior Record (the previous record of 59.92 dated from July 2009).
